BUT WHAT/WHO IS COYOTE? JUST A SCREEN PRINTING STUDIO?
COYOTE WANTS MORE: more CULTURE, more INTERACTION, more NETWORKING, more TEAMWORK…
coyote is an open screen printing studio located at the students cultural center [ ] KUZE in downtown Potsdam. There are workshops and more regularly „assisted“ printing sessions, which means you print your own stuff but we help you doing so. The studio also offers necessary equipment and room for projects.
Damn sure it’s all about printing – any kind of printing… images rock, calenders rock, collages rock, handdrawings rock, words and texts rock… prints on paper, sticker, fabric and clothes are possible and experiments anyway.
There is also a sewing machine, facilities for simple book binding, a button machine as well as a small specialized library, where you find lots about screen printing and such. Two hands full of possibilities for YOU. What you should know before you go: coyote is not the classic job shop in the real industrial way. Everything is handmade and that’s how we like it. You also need to bring your own material you want to print on. Sometimes we have stuff in the studio or order it. Just asked for detailed info.
Printing is not for free. In any case you’ve got to pay for material costs like ink and emulsion. But obvisiously money and material things aren’t everything and not the basis for the studios work. Everyone is welcome, but sympathy for the person and his/her idea is required for a collaboration. coyote prints with you. To keep it like that we need your support. Ideas, visions and the people behind it as well as commodities like paper, cardboard, fabric, ink and so on are always looked for and footing for any project. You can also buy fresh prints for little money at our kiosk. Support your local dealer!
The studio exists since 2005 at the [ ] KUZE. Since then a few things happened. In the end of 2009 the association –coyote e. V.– was established to legally and collectivly represent and support the studio and its interests and projects as well as the great D.I.Y. printing matter. It’s a few of us organizing the studio and to pass on the load of screen-printing-know-how. We do all of it voluntarly and for the fun of it, at times you’ll find a little bit of idealism coming with it too. We do workshops, screen print live at events, get excited about doing handicrafts and like to support arty and emancipatory projects.
The coyote studio is supported by ekze e. V., which gets going lots at the [ ] KUZE, as well as the students of the Uni Potsdam and their AStA, which provide our premises. Cheers!
